The Olivar de Josa Oils

 

Under the "ACEITES DEL OLIVAR DE JOSA" brand name we plan on developing a range of coupage oils, and in 2016 we will begin marketing other types of olive oils. Together with our "Ecoil de Josa" 100% Arbequina oil, these new products will also offer the following characteristics:

Organic Farming and Certification

Our entire olive oil production will be certified by the Catalan Council for Organic Farming Production (Consell Catalán de la Producció Agrària Ecolócica - CCPAE).  As of 2002, when we planted our first olive trees, the entire estate respects the environment and leaves the olives free of any chemicals that could be unhealthy for human consumption.   In the farming and production of our oils both the European and Spanish requirements for certification of organic farming is respected.  

Altitude and Climatic Conditions

The 2,238 foot (682 meter) altitute of the Mas d'en Josa Estate and the climatic contrast between day and night, as well as the conditions of the soil could not be more suitable to grow olives of maximum quality that yield an oil of excellent aroma and body. 

Gathering and Extraction

Normally, the olives are handpicked in October, before the autumn rainfall.  It's true that by doing so we produce much less oil but of infinitely better quality!

 

We begin gathering the oilies early in the morning and, around four in the afternoon we take them to the mill that is prepared to receive them.  Extraction of the oil takes place immediately and is bottled at its optimum moment.

Seals that guarantee that the production and preparation has been carried out in accordance with organic farming norms, and have been controlled in all of its facits of production, preparation, bottling and marketing.
