Organic Farming and Certification
Gathering & Extraction
Altitude & Climatic Conditions
The entire Ecoil de Josa oil production is certified by the Catalan Council for Organic Farming Production (Consell Catalán de la Producció Agrària Ecolócica - CCPAE.) Since 2002, when we planted our first trees, we have been respecting the environment and leaving the olives free of any fertilizers, treatments, pesticides or chemical compounds. By abiding by both European and national norms governing organic farming, the estate and our olive oil has been certified by both.
We have been handpicking our olives in the month of October, before the fall rainfall. Yes, it's true that by doing so we end up with much less olive oil, but of infinitely better quality!
We start gathering the olives first thing in the morning and, around four in the afternoon we take them to the mill that is prepared to receive them. The extraction begins immediately, and the oil is bottled at its best moment.

Seals that guarantee that the production and preparation has been carried out in accordance with the European Union and the CCPAE of Catalonia organic farming norms, and have been controlled in all of its facits of production, preparation, bottling and marketing.
